Rebecca and Matthew
The date had been set for a while although the thought of having a photographer or as it turns out two for that matter, was something that had not been considered by the couple until the keen eyed, soon to be sister-in-law saw an advert for Inspired Moments' services on Facebook and passed the details to Becky so that she could get in touch.
Less than a month to go before the big day - this was to be another test of our readiness. Our goal, as always, to deliver our professional and unique style and impress both the bride and groom. Both had doubts that the intimate wedding they had planned would be photogenic enough to create images capable of conjuring up emotions when looked back on together years down the road in wedded bliss.
Well as always their doubts were unfounded. As we arrived the groom and his best man were already present and looking truly dapper. Suited and booted in black suits with purple accents. Unique skull and purple flower buttonholes, purple and black patterned waistcoats, tie and pocket handkerchiefs. We spoke with them for a bit and I hope calmed their nerves slightly. We took a few shots of them both to further get them used to the cameras. I then asked the best man if he had the rings. With a smile and nod he produced an exquisite and unique coffin shaped ring box with the two rings held inside. The box the couple had had specially made and engraved for the day looked awesome. After snapping this and a few of the surroundings it wasn’t long before the bride and her maid of honour were coming around the corner and we were able to jump into action and fully utilise having two photographers to capture two perfect expressions on both of their faces as the groom turned and saw the bride for the first time. Smiles all round is an understatement!
The bride was dressed in a gorgeous black dress with black netted arms and matching her husband to be with purple accents on her corset and within her bouquet. The maid of honour wearing the same colours but opposite with a purple and black dress with black corset. Both of them looking lovely with the colour purple also present also in their hair.
As discussed at our initial meeting with the couple, they had arrived with plenty of time so that we would be able to find a secluded and wooded location close by where we could get some shots of the four of them before the ceremony. After this it was time for everyone to head back and greet some more friends before heading inside for the all important “I do's”.
Returning back outside about 20 minutes later, hands tightly clasped together, both of them with beaming smiles. Everyone made very light work of covering the newlyweds in purple and pink confetti and congratulating them as a happy couple.
A few more shots and it was time to head over the bridge from Plymouth to Cornwall. The China Fleet Club; a beautiful resort perfect for the wedding reception. We hotfooted it down there in an attempt to get pictures of the happy couple turning up. We made it with only a few seconds to spare and managed to fire off a few shots as they walked up to greet their guests. As various friends and family turned up smiles, hugs, handshakes and laughter were all exchanged outside under the idyllic autumn sunshine. Once everyone was there we made our way down to a location that the couple had planned to use for family and group photos. However no more than a few steps onto the grass it was clear that the rain over the previous few days meant this was not going to be accessible for most, if not all, of the guests.
With some quick thinking and running around, Stu and I managed to find the perfect location under some trees just a short walk away. The light was incredible, coming in at just the right angle and the beautiful autumnal colours fabulously brought the images to life and gave great contrast between the subjects and background.
With everyone enjoying the day it was now time to head inside for the meal and speeches. With the brides father being a professional writer this was definitely going to be a good one. Capturing the reactions to the speeches was of the upmost importance and once again having two photographers really helped us capture all those easily missed fleeting reactions. Moments that may only be fleeting but once captured will last a life time .
Needless to say everything went off without a hitch and it was agreed that shortly after the speeches we would make our exit and allow the family and friends privacy. I’m sure the smiles and laughter carried on for hours.
For us this is only the beginning.
Both of us were keen to get home and get all those important images downloaded securely and backed up. Only at that point could we start to relax before getting a few of our favourites together and editing them as a preview that the couple could enjoy and share as soon as possible.
For us at Inspired Moments, Plymouth Wedding Photography, it is a great honour to be asked to photograph someone’s special day but in this case it feels like a double honour. Just a few weeks later and after viewing the full album, Becky and Matthew messaged to ask about availability for the same time next year as they are planning a handfasting ceremony. Of course we said yes and truly cannot wait to be part of another special day capturing memories that Becky and Matthew can treasure forever.
