Sophie and Jon

The big day had arrived (although for us, the wait was a little less anticipated due to agreeing to cover the wedding with less than two days’ notice), and as expected, the weather was as typical as it could be in Plymouth, Devon on a mid-September morning; one moment it was raining and howling wind, the next glorious sunshine would break through the clouds, revealing the beautiful blue sky behind. The weather continued in this fashion for a few hours, until, just before setting off to the wedding ceremony, the rain seemed to pack up its bags for the day.

We arrived at the wedding venue on Plymouth Hoe 30 minutes before the arrival of the bride was due and immediately set about finding the groom and best man (neither had we seen or met previously). We were successful in doing so and were greeted by the calm, albeit slightly nervous, groom. A quick discussion regarding important photos, specific details, and do’s or don’ts were covered, following this we immediately sprang into wedding photographer action. The setting looked absolutely stunning! A once yacht club, now available to hire for weddings and private functions, the beautiful building was located a literal stone’s throw away from the ocean.

The beautifully dressed and smiling guests all began to arrive and the feeling of nerves, joy, and happiness were palpable. After what only felt like mere moments, the bride arrived with her father in a beautiful vintage car. As the bride exited the car on Plymouth Hoe, her beautiful white dress was revealed for all to see (apart from the father). The wind was so strong that the bride’s vale was blowing so wildly in the wind, often and mostly covering her father’s face as he battled to keep it under control. This led to many a laugh as well as some fantastic wedding photographs.

It was just after 2pm in the afternoon on Plymouth Hoe that the wedding ceremony  was due to begin. The guests were sat, as were the groom and best man and the bride and bridesmaids were waiting in a different room, all ready to begin the walk down the aisle; however, the registrars were nowhere to be found. After a few moments of panic and worried stares, the registrars were found waiting in another room downstairs and the wedding ceremony in Plymouth was all set to begin.

The bride appeared in her beautiful white wedding dress accompanied by her father to walk her down the aisle. The feeling of joy, love, and happiness was strong in the room and the service began beautifully. After exchanging their loving vows to one another and saying the I dos, the bride and groom had their first kiss. The guests were all clapping and cheering away as we were snapping away capturing all of the special moments, emotions, and reactions. The advantage of myself and Nick working as a wedding photography duo is that we are able to position ourselves in different parts of the room and capture many different angles of the same moment. This is a big advantage to consider if you would like to book us as your wedding photographers for the day.

The atmosphere was fantastic and the guests were all thrilled for the happy couple. People began to gather at the bar, outside on the terrace, and around the various small displays and decorations around the venue. After snapping a few more photos of the happy couple outside on the terrace, over looking Plymouth Sound, the guests started to take their seats at the dining table in the main hall of the venue. This was our que to pack up out gear and call a very successful wedding. It was a brilliant day and we were thrilled to offer our services to the happily married couple.

Until the next one,
