Lucy and Jack

In the picturesque countryside of Somerset, a radiant bride and a dashing groom come together to embark on their journey of love and commitment. Their wedding day is a celebration of their unique bond, set against the backdrop of rolling hills.

The weather could not have been more perfect. The venue, a beautiful village hall in the Somerset countryside was gorgeously decorated with bunting and fairy lights. The chairs were laid out and the days proceedings about to start.

We- the photographers, had gotten ourselves set up and sorted just before the guests to catch the candid mingling, hugs and handshakes of reacquainting family an friends. It wasn’t until I noticed my arm starting to ache a little that I became aware of just how many people I had already photographed and that there were still more cars pulling in. Each filled with smiling, smartly dressed friends and family of the Bride and Groom.

and it was easy to see why….

A nicer couple you could not wish to meet. Two Teachers that fell in love whilst teaching in the same school, in classrooms next door to each other.

As I continued capturing the beautiful guests Stu headed off inside to grab a few images of centre pieces, table decorations, place names, seating plans. Once I was confident that all guests were here I headed around with one of the bridesmaids to capture a few of the bridal party before they made their way to the ceremony room.

As so many have done over the time of the pandemic the pair had lawfully tied the knot a little while before. This gave them the opportunity on the day to have one of their closest friends conduct a beautiful personal service in place of the more formal “I dos”

Due to the popularity of them both everyone made their way inside and the chairs quickly filled up. children moved to parents laps and people found standing room down the sides of the seats. As more came in the aisle also started to fill. Soon there was only standing room at the back. Then as more people still arrived they stood in the door way until the rest had to gaze in through the windows from outside. It was truly amazing to see this many people at this very intimate and natural wedding everyone smiling and just so happy to be sharing this day with Lucy and Jack.

As the bride came across with her bridesmaids I managed to get some really beautiful images of all of them together and as Lucy entered the room everyone managed to edge back slightly and create a human walkway to enable the her to get to the front and join Jack.

With all these people there was no way I was getting to the front as well to take pictures, luckily Stu was one step ahead and had positioned himself up the front with Jack nice and early allowing me to get prepared for the couple as they came out holding hands and smiling ear to ear.

This was a day they wanted their family and friends to come and share the celebrations with them and boy didn’t they do that. After the ceremony it was time for everyone to move over to the main hall.

The Hall looked incredible with long banquet tables screeching the length of the hall and the top table at the far end stretching the width. It looked impressive before the guests started filling the seats but totally came to life once everyone had be welcomed in by the happy couple.

The happiness and love in the room just felt effortless and continued to grow as the the speeches were read and glasses raised. It felt such a privilege to witness and capture memories of such a beautiful day.

Once the food had been eaten and the wine drunk we had a short while to get the couple and some of the guests outside for some group shots under the setting sun. We also managed to head out around the venue capturing the more relaxed candid shots that our couples always love.

However as he sun set and the tables were pushed to the sides ready for the evening we started packing up ready for the long drive home and a well earned good night sleep. Not before backing up all the memory cards from all the cameras and having a sneak peak at a few of the images from the day ready to dream up ideas for the editing that would follow.
